Always love Porsches innovations for the best power to weight they can get!!! Also find it funny how everyone always bangs on about BHP but it's torque that really matters and where it lies in the RPM range. This is why the Tesla ludicrous mode is such a beast cos without a softstarter an electric motor draws infinite current at zero RPM and that current directly relates to torque. Hence, theoretically, you have maximim torque from zero RPM. Porsches electric turbo now spreads the torque over a larger RPM range and hence why it's such a beast!!!

Those poly bushings in the 996 are what is causing the harsh ride. They are likely seized in the joints of your control arms. They are one of the worst things you can do to a car, they have LITERALLY zero benefits, they just make the handling way worse even before they fuse over time. The material inherently binds in joints. You gotta replace them all with a self lubricating material like delrin, and use brass sleeves machined to the proper lengths to relieve any binding stress on the bushings. This allows for the suspension to move properly but no deflection within the joints beyond their inherent geometry. A whole kit even custom one off is only around 1000 bucks.

I’m personally not a fan of electric or hybrid vehicles, but this should be the future of hybrids. Porsche knows how to engineer and pulls things off that other manufacturers can only dream of. Their cars are still gorgeous as ever, too, which is more than I can say for some other makes!

I dunno… driver skill aside both cars launch pretty even but then the hybrid walks at the top. That’s typically horsepower showing its teeth but the weight difference and inverse horsepower thereto should level that out. The electric motor matters much more at the bottom and as I said they were pretty close there. Does anybody know if the gear ratios both in the PDK and the rear diff are the same in these cars? That top end pull in the hybrid suggests they aren’t. Just wondering out loud….

Lovely car, for the sake of YT entertainment. But practically, a 991.1 or a 991.2 is way more than enough if you don't drive on a private airstrip.

This is the second time Porsche does really dumb shit. First they neutered the Boxster/Cayman to 4 Cylinders for fuel economy, but which did not do anything for fuel economy in real life, but only on paper; and now they have added the complexity of electric, but it only minimally benefitted performance and again, fuel economy.... largely a pointless exercise, that added a lot of expensive crap for not much at all.

Great new under warranty if you have the money . Gets into 10s on non prepped surface with RWD , so fast despite not being a drag car . The tech is both interesting and ingenious but also sounds pretty complex . More displacement and 1 Turbo I like , seems like less stress then only 3.0 with 2 turbos to make power which also means an extra turbo that can fail . But that is a common design and recipe today where as this is doing A WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF and that includes CHARGING A WEE BATTERY sandwisched in . German Engineering is not the same as being built well always and NEVER built to be EASY or inexpensive to service and or fix when it gets some miles . In the not distant future people may find out these are a NIGHTMARE to keep running tip top . It would seem that the small battery is constantly being charged and discharging that small pack . ALL CURRENT BATTERIES degrade and degrade most in initial or early miles and then more slow;y become less effecient . I wonder how long it will take for all this tech and battery effeciency to start fading and the level of nightmare to keep one in peak performance when it starts to lose power . Certainly will need a very expensive tech with expensive diagnostics to even know and then deal with what may go hinky with this convoluted system that does all this . HOPEFULLY!!! With more displacement and geting help from electric motor and wizardry somehow this 3.6 despite the cars output being much higher is actually understressed compared to 3.0 relying on higher boost to make power and in some fantasy world where complexity and innovation in a German car that is new is somehow not only reliable, but easy to fix with no plastic or weak composite parts hard to get at that fail making it a nightmare of cash hemoraging to deal with for 2nd owner or somebody who keeps cars longer then underware . Fun tech . MORE displacement , MORE power , MORE acceleration and unfortunately MORE weight but nothing crazy and MORE stopping power and I assume MORE effeciency and MORE nice to environment for power when your thrashing it ( despite mining minerals and perhaps becoming a paperweight when too expensive to fix and nobody wants it like many fancy German cars that are not worth fixing despite massive depreciation , which to be fair is not as big a problem with 911s but might be in future if these are a nightmare , time will tell).
